Two Missing, Two Rescued After Boat Capsize on Ogun River 

 

 

 

A devastating boat accident occurred on Thursday evening in the Gbodo Jego River, Ijofin, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, leaving two wood merchants missing and two others rescued. The incident happened around 7:00 p.m. while the victims were transporting firewood to Benin Republic for sale.

 

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the survivors, Awhanse Jimoh and Ahohe Jimoh, reported the incident to the Ipokia Division on September 12, 2024, at about 7:00 a.m. They stated that their boat capsized due to an unexpectedly strong current, causing everyone on board to fall into the water.

 

The missing individuals have been identified as Ahohe Seido and Dogbon. Despite intensive search efforts by divers, their bodies have yet to be found.

 

Omolola Odutola, Spokesperson of the Ogun Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing to clarify the specifics of the boat accident and validate the statements made by the two survivors.

 

The police are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
