Veteran Broadcaster Bukola Agbakaizu Slumps, Dies in Abeokuta

A somber moment unfolded at Ogun State Television (OGTV) in Abeokuta on Monday when Mrs. Bukola Agbakaizu, a respected broadcast journalist, unexpectedly collapsed and passed on while preparing for her afternoon shift.

 

The Ogun State Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Bunmi Adigun, confirmed the news. Mrs. Agbakaizu, 52, was an esteemed member of the NUJ Ogun State Council, serving as an ex-officio until her departure.

 

In a statement, it was noted that she was diligently preparing for her duties when she experienced the sudden collapse. Despite efforts to aid her, she was pronounced dead at the Federal Medical Centre. Known for her versatility and dedication, she had previously served as Vice Chairman of the OGTV Chapel and was highly regarded within the Wale Olanrewaju-led executive team.

 

Her vibrant presence and unwavering commitment to journalism have left an enduring impression on those around her. She is survived by her two children, her elderly mother, and many colleagues and friends who are quietly mourning her loss.

 

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State chapter, expressed their deep sorrow, acknowledging the void her passing leaves behind. Chairperson Sekinat Salam fondly remembered her as a dedicated and compassionate professional whose leadership and kindness will be missed.

 

As the community reflects on her contributions, there is a shared hope that her legacy of service and passion continues to inspire others. Her family and loved ones are in thoughtful prayers during this difficult time.
