Warm Tributes as Mama Folashade Olufunmilayo Ajayi Marks 83rd Birthday with Prayer Service
It was a day of gratitude, celebration, and heartfelt tributes on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered at the residence of Mrs. Folashade Olufunmilayo Ajayi to mark her 83rd birthday with a special prayer service.
The celebrant, who is the mother of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, was honoured in a serene and spiritual atmosphere filled with thanksgiving and joy.
The prayer service was led by Reverend J.T. Samuel of the United African Methodist Church, Sagamu, and was attended by relatives, church members, neighbours, and friends, all of whom came to celebrate the life of a woman they described as generous, selfless, and deeply devoted to God.
Speaking at the event, several family members, neighbours, and friends praised Mama Folashade as a loving, giving, and down-to-earth woman whose philanthropy and compassion have touched many lives. “She is special,” one guest remarked. “Her kindness knows no bounds.”
In an emotional moment, Mama Folashade expressed her profound gratitude to God for keeping her alive and healthy at 83. “I thank God for sparing my life and being with me all these years,” she said joyfully.
In an interview, Reverend J.T. Samuel described the celebrant as “a rare gem,” stating that he was short of words to fully capture her impact. “Mama is a blessing to the church, the community, and even to my own family. Her dedication to God, even at her age, is second to none. She is peaceful, caring, and truly accommodating.”
Princess Modupe Adekunle, daughter of the celebrant and younger sister to the Akarigbo, also shared glowing words about her mother. “My mom is simply wonderful,” she said. “She’s not just my mother—she’s my friend, my guide, my prayer warrior. I wouldn’t wish for another.”
In her brief interview with RemoTV, the celebrant expressed overwhelming happiness and gratitude. She offered prayers for her son, the Akarigbo, and thanked God for His faithfulness in her life.
A minute of silence was observed during the event in memory of her late husband and father of the Akarigbo.
The celebration concluded with songs of praise, joyful fellowship, and a renewed sense of community as guests wished Mama Folashade many more years in health and happiness.
