Wike to David Mark, Amaechi, others: You will not return to power

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday, took a swipe at the Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, and opposition coalition figure, Rotimi Amaechi, accusing them of misleading Nigerians.
Speaking during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma PalaceāRadio NigeriaāNew Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, Wike declared that the coalition led by Mark, Amaechi, and their allies would not reclaim power in 2027.
The project, commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, was part of those earmarked to celebrate Tinubuās second term in office.
Wike seized the occasion to challenge Mark, Amaechi, and other leaders of the coalition to reveal their scorecards from when they were in office to Nigerians.
He said: āThey said that the coalition started 18 months ago and Tinubu has been in office for two years, so you started the coalition when he was in office for just six months; 18 months ago you started the coalition, meanwhile he was in office for just six months.
āWhen will you stop deceiving Nigerians?ā Wike asked. āYou [Mark] served as Senate President for eight years. You [Amaechi] were Speaker for four years and Minister of Transportation for eight. Yet, you did nothing to ease the frustrations of Nigerians. Now that youāre out of office, youāre suddenly talking about how angry Nigerians are.
āIāve said it beforeāeveryone should present their scorecard. If you were Senate President, show us what you did for Benue State and Otukpo. Is it just about flying helicopters there?
āWeāve been in office for only 16 days and weāre already showing our achievements. This is now āOperation Show Your Scorecard.ā
āGod gave you the chance to serve and make life better for Nigerians, but you failed. Now, because youāre no longer in power, youāre claiming Nigerians are angry just so you can return. But let me tell youāyou will not return to power.ā
