Yewa Indigenes Protest Against Marginalisation in Ogun West Senatorial District

Residents of Yewaland in the Ogun West Senatorial district have protested against the deplorable conditions of infrastructure in the region. The protesters, under the aegis of the Yewa Defender Organization, gathered in front of the governor’s office to express their frustration over alleged marginalisation of the region in developmental projects. The residents later moved to the Deputy Governor’s wing of the seat of power.

Ayeteru Akeem, speaking on behalf of the protesters, lamented that Yewaland, the only region that has not produced a governor since the establishment of the state, has been underdeveloped in terms of infrastructure and other developmental projects. Despite being the industrial hub and government’s cash cow, Ogun West has been denied basic amenities like road, hospital, and educational institutions, erratic power supply, and incessant farmers-herders conflict, which has claimed many lives in the region.

The protesters carried different banners stating demands and challenges of each of the LGs. They expressed their frustration over the alleged marginalisation of the region in developmental projects. The protesters called on the government to address their concerns and ensure that the region receives the necessary attention it deserves.
