Ogun State Assembly Declares August 20th as Annual Isese Cultural Day

The Ogun State House of Assembly has declared August 20th of every year as the Isese Cultural Day and a work-free day in the state. The resolution was passed at the plenary session of the Assembly held on Tuesday, presided over by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo.
The resolution, titled “H.R. No.008/OG/2023: Observation of Isese Day as Work-Free Day in Ogun State,” was moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Lukmon Adeleye.
The lawmakers said the resolution was aimed at promoting the rich culture and traditions of Ogun State and preserving them for future generations. They added that the resolution would go a long way in boosting tourism and highlighting the uniqueness of the state’s culture and traditions.
The Isese Cultural Day is celebrated annually by adherents of traditional religion in Yorubaland to promote their culture and traditions.
