In a bid to strengthen the intelligence department of the Nigerian Police Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the immediate posting of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to head the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Commands across the country.

This move is part of the IGP’s vision to improve the effectiveness of the intelligence department and combat the rising crime rate in Nigeria.

The IGP’s decision comes after reactivating the Presidential approval to upgrade the Force Intelligence Bureau to a Department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni as the head. The newly appointed ACPs have been tasked with deploying intelligence-based assets to tackle crimes and criminality in their respective areas of responsibility.

The IGP emphasized the importance of professionalism and leveraging their wealth of experience to strengthen the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.

This development signals a significant step forward in the fight against crime in Nigeria, as the police force continues to prioritize intelligence gathering and analysis.
