Managerial Transition: Peseiro Bids Farewell to Super Eagles

In a significant development, Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro has officially stepped down as the head coach of the Super Eagles as his contract concluded on Thursday. Peseiro, who guided the Eagles to a commendable second-place finish at the 2023 African Cup of Nations, expressed pride and honor in coaching the West African nation.

 

In a statement released on Friday, Peseiro reflected on the 22 months of his coaching tenure, characterized by immense dedication, sacrifice, emotions, and enormous enthusiasm. He conveyed a sense of fulfillment and extended gratitude to key figures, including Sir Amaju Pinnick (the signing president), President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Secretary Dayo Enebi, the entire NFF staff, and particularly the players.

 

Peseiro’s message expressed appreciation to the players, acknowledging that leading them had been a great pleasure. Despite bidding farewell, he reassured them of continued support, emphasizing that they would always be there for the team, no matter where they are.

 

This marks a pivotal moment in the Super Eagles’ journey, and the football community awaits the announcement of the new coach to lead the team into its next chapter.
