LASU Mathematics Department Alumni Reward Outstanding Students with Scholarship

 

 

 

The Alumni of the Mathematics Department at Lagos State University (LASU) have commemorated five exceptional students with a total scholarship sum of N300,000 for their outstanding academic performance during the 2022–2023 academic session.

 

The five students, who achieved the highest Grade Point Average (GPA) in the Mathematics Department, were selected from various levels including the first, second, and third years of study.

 

During an orientation program for newly-admitted students in the department held at LASU’s Ojo campus, the alumni presented the cash award to the deserving students. This initiative aims to recognize and encourage academic excellence among students pursuing mathematics at LASU.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Lawal Adigun, applauded the outstanding students and encouraged them to view the scholarship as a motivation to continue excelling in their studies.

 

Prof. Olatunji-Bello emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and dedication to academic pursuits, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the scholarship to further enhance their academic achievements.

 

She also commended the Mathematics Department for their efforts in guiding and supporting students, while stressing the significance of adhering to university regulations and maintaining a disciplined academic lifestyle.

 

In her address, Prof. Olatunji-Bello urged all students to familiarize themselves with the university’s rules and regulations outlined in the student handbook, emphasizing the need to uphold moral values and academic integrity throughout their stay at LASU.

 

The scholarship award, presented by the alumni, serves as a testament to the commitment of LASU’s Mathematics Department to nurturing and rewarding academic excellence among its students.
