NDLEA’s Nationwide Raids Lead to Seizure of 44,948kg of Illicit Drugs

 

 

 

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has conducted nationwide raids, resulting in the seizure of over 44,948.1kg of illicit drugs and the arrest of eight suspects across Lagos, Edo, and Ondo states. The agency also impounded 11 vehicles belonging to drug cartels.

 

NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed these developments in a statement on Sunday, emphasizing the significant impact of the operations.

 

In one operation, the agency destroyed 14,310.8625 kg of psychoactive substances in Edo State, leading to the arrest of five suspects. Additionally, 7,687.8kg of cannabis was confiscated from a warehouse in Ondo State, with further seizures and arrests in other locations.

 

Babafemi highlighted, “In a well-coordinated operation in Lagos State, operatives seized 10,534 kg of Ghanaian Loud, a strain of cannabis, and impounded 11 vehicles from the drug cartel.”

 

He continued, detailing various arrests and seizures in different states, including Kaduna, Borno, Kano, and Abuja. Notably, a syndicate dealing in cocaine and heroin was dismantled in Kano, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects and the recovery of illicit substances.
