Deadly Cult Clash Claims Two Lives in Ogun State

Tragedy struck in Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State, as two individuals lost their lives on Sunday in a clash between rival cult groups. The victims, reportedly affiliated with the Eiye and Aye confraternity groups, were gunned down in separate incidents across the metropolis.

According to reports, the violence was sparked by the earlier killing of Olumide Ifeoluwa, a prominent figure in the Aye confraternity, who fell victim to gun violence perpetrated by suspected members of the Eiye cult group three weeks ago. In a retaliatory move, clashes erupted between the rival factions, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.

The first victim, identified as a suspected member of the Eiye cult group, was fatally shot at Alogi junction in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta. Meanwhile, the second victim, Timo Olukayode, a member of the Aye confraternity, met a gruesome end as he was shot and his head was smashed with a stone at Bode-Olude.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the body of Olukayode was deposited at the State Hospital’s morgue in Ijaiye. She provided details of the police response to the tragic events, stating that a police team led by DPO Adatan and DPO Elega visited the scenes of the crimes. The law enforcement officers encountered Olukayode’s lifeless body at the scene and swiftly intervened to secure the area and evacuate the victim’s remains.
