Ogun Police Apprehends Nine Suspected Robbers, Ritualists in Swift Operations

Ogun State Police Command have captured nine presumed individuals involved in robbery, ritualistic activities, and cultism. The arrests were carried out on Friday, after a raid in Ogijo and a stop-and-search routine along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, revealed on Saturday that a team attached to the Quick Response Squad, led by Inspector Adewale Adetunji, conducted a stop-and-search operation. During this routine check, 35-year-old Eri Badmus and 24-year-old Segun Ogunyem were apprehended at a stop-and-search point along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway near the rail line on Friday.

Upon checking the suspects’ bags, the police discovered various criminal charms, human hair, a live tortoise, and a native bathing sponge. In a separate incident, three individuals were arrested for attempting to rob a motorcycle rider in the Agbado Division. The suspects, identified as Garfaru Olamide (27 years), Suleman Ademigbe (29 years), and Michael Oladimeji (30 years), allegedly used two axes and a flashlight to attack Hassan Adamu on his way home.

Omolola Odutola stated, “The victim was rescued, and the three suspects were apprehended and immediately arrested before they could escape.”

Meanwhile, suspected cultists believed to be planning an attack in the Oke-Imuti community area in Ogijo were arrested. The tactical team responded swiftly, apprehending four suspects: Matthew Babalola, Sulaiman Yusuf, Wilson Osemere, and Olajide Oluwatobi. All four suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity, and short cutlasses were recovered from them. The suspects are set to be transferred to the command headquarters for further investigations.
