26-Year-Old Man Dies After Consuming Herbal Concoction
A devastating incident has occurred in Ogun State, resulting in the tragic death of a 26-year-old man, Monday Edereno. The deceased, who had been experiencing leg pain, had traveled from Ijebu Ode to Asa Elegbada Village near Owode Egba to purchase a herbal mixture from a traditional attendant, Ifakunle Olanrewaju, 28.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, Olanrewaju reported the incident to the authorities, stating that Edereno, a regular customer, had bought the herbal mixture on Wednesday and was found dead in his home the following day at approximately 7:00 am.
The police have taken Olanrewaju into custody for questioning, and the remains of the deceased have been transferred to the mortuary at General Hospital, Owode Egba, for an autopsy. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of Edereno’s death and to ascertain whether the herbal concoction was responsible for his tragic demise.
The incident raises concerns about the safety and regulation of traditional herbal remedies, which are often untested and unregulated. The police are working to ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
