Fatal Road Accident in Ogun State Claims One Life, Injures Two Others
A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday, December 22, 2024, along the Sagamu-Ogijo road in Ogun State, resulting in the loss of one life and injuring two others.
The accident involved a lone vehicle, an ash-colored Lexus 350 Jeep, which was traveling from Sagamu towards Ogijo Road with three passengers on board. According to eyewitnesses, the driver, 28-year-old Ade Awodero Idris, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the main road and flip into the bushes near the Network Hotel in Sotubo, Ogun State.
The police have confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 3:40 pm on Sunday. The DPO of the Sotubo division promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the report. Unfortunately, 22-year-old Mariam Taiwo was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two passengers, 26-year-old Sikiru Musibau and 22-year-old Damilola Olajuwon, suffered severe head injuries. The injured victims were rushed to Awal Hospital in Sotubo for urgent medical attention, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The police are investigating the accident, and the corpse of Mariam Taiwo has been preserved for further examination and autopsy. The authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident and to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The police have urged drivers to be more cautious and to avoid speeding, especially during peak hours. The community is also coming together to support the families of the victims and to raise awareness about road safety.
In similar incidents, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, has reported that two children have died and seven others sustained injuries in a lone crash. The corps has also reported that one person died and ten others were injured in another lone crash in Ogun State.
