MAA@80: A Glorious Celebration of Life, Legacy, and Thanksgiving

The 80th birthday celebration of Lady Chief (Mrs) Mosunmola Aderinola Awodipe (JP) — affectionately tagged MAA@80 — was a truly memorable and spiritually uplifting two-day event filled with thanksgiving, dedication, and joyful fellowship in Irolu-Remo, Ogun State.

The festivities commenced on Saturday, 19th July 2025, with the official commissioning and dedication of a newly constructed Church Manse at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Irolu-Remo Circuit, Diocese of Remo. Graciously built and donated by Lady Awodipe in celebration of her 80th birthday and in loving memory of her late daughter, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awodipe-Sones, the manse was dedicated by The Right Reverend J. M. Bamidele Ibikunle, Diocesan Bishop of Remo. The ceremony featured hymns, scripture readings, prayers, and words of thanksgiving. Warm presentations were given by the Awodipe family, including Sir Engr. Chief Yomi Awodipe and the celebrant herself.

Dignitaries from far and near were in attendance — including prominent church leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders. Among them was His Royal Highness Oba Sikiru Ajibowu Adeyiga, the Onirolu of Irolu kingdom, along with other royal fathers from the Remo region. Their presence underscored the profound respect and admiration for Lady Awodipe’s lifetime of service, faith, and generosity. The Diocese expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the manse as a timeless gift and legacy for future generations.

The celebration continued on Sunday, 20th July 2025, with a powerful 80th birthday thanksgiving and Holy Communion service at the same church, led by the Very Rev. Olumide Faluyi JP and Bishop Ibikunle. The service featured praise, worship, soul-lifting sermons, and a special musical tribute from the celebrant’s grandson — a touching reminder of God’s blessings through the generations.

A grand reception followed at Camelot Event Centre along Ilishan-Iperu Remo Expressway. The joyful atmosphere was filled with musical performances, tributes from family and friends, cultural presentations, and the celebrant’s heartfelt remarks. The highlight moments included the cutting of the birthday cake, toasts, group photographs, and a lively dance session that reflected the happiness and gratitude shared by all.

Dignitaries travelled from across the country and beyond to celebrate with Lady Awodipe, making MAA@80 a gathering of love, honor, and divine thanksgiving. It was a beautiful opportunity to glorify God for His abiding grace and mercy over her life and family.

In all, the two-day event was a glorious celebration of a life well-lived — one defined by unwavering faith, generosity, resilience, and devotion to family, church, and community. MAA@80 left a lasting impression of legacy, love, and gratitude in the hearts of all who attended.
