A celebration of royal heritage, tradition and cultural continuity His Royal Highness, Oba Taiwo Adenaike Ogunbona, Fibigbuwa IV, the Alaperu of Iperu, has commenced his 21-day royal seclusion, known as **Ipebi**—a significant milestone in the traditional institution and cultural life of Iperu-Remo.
A revered aspect of Yoruba kingship, Ipebi is a period of sacred observances and cultural orientation. It offers the monarch an opportunity to deepen his understanding of the customs, history and responsibilities connected with the royal stool, while honouring the ancestral heritage and values preserved across generations.
The commencement of the rites highlights the enduring importance of the Alaperu institution as a symbol of unity, identity and cultural preservation, as well as a source of shared aspiration for the people of Iperu.
As he begins this traditional journey, Kabiyesi has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chiefs, kingmakers, elders and other custodians of the kingdom’s heritage for their support, cooperation and dedication to preserving the traditional institution.
