One dead, five injured in multiple road accidents in Ogun

Two separate road accidents on Monday along the Sagamu Expressway and the Ota-Idiroko Road in Ogun State resulted in one fatality and five others sustaining various injuries.
According to traffic updates from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), both incidents occurred during the early hours of the day.
In the first accident on the Sagamu Expressway, a Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number AKD 322 X collided with an unregistered Cabstar vehicle.
TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a phone interview, stated that eyewitnesses reported the Cabstar was speeding before losing control and crashing into the bus.
According to Akinbiyi, five of the 22 people involved in the accident sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rescued at the Idera Hospital by a Good Samaritan.
He said, “According to an eyewitness, excessive speeding by the Cabstar vehicle caused the accident. Twenty-two people were involved, five people were injured, but nobody died.
“The injured victims were taken to the Idera Hospital for treatment by a Good Samaritan. At the same time, the accidented cars were towed by the police for further investigations.”
In a separate update, Babatunde Akinbiyi reported that a motorcyclist was killed in an accident at Olorunda inbound Owode along the Ota-Idiroko Road, occurring within the same hour as the first crash.
According to eyewitnesses, a hit-and-run driver collided with the motorcyclist, causing his immediate death.
“An eyewitness stated that a vehicle traveling at high speed struck the motorcycle from behind, resulting in the rider’s death. The deceased has been handed over to his relatives for burial with police approval, while the motorcycle has been impounded by the police for further investigation,” Akinbiyi explained.
Earlier, on July 24, angry residents of Sowo Village blocked the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway to protest the deaths of four pupils from Iddo Primary School, Kobape, Ogun State, who were killed when a vehicle struck them as they were returning home around 3 p.m.
Eyewitnesses reported that some youths attempted to lynch the driver involved in the accident, but security forces intervened to rescue him.
