Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure.
During the unveiling of the newly renovated Executive Council Chambers at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta—attended by former Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba—the governor expressed regret over the building’s previous dilapidated state, calling it “an embarrassment.”
He explained that the decision to remodel rather than construct a new governor’s office was intentional.
“This office was in total decay and an embarrassment. We chose not to build another Governor’s Office but to remodel the existing one. Investors will not be in doubt of our seriousness when they see new things in the State,” he stated.
The upgraded chambers now feature modern, high-tech facilities, including a state-of-the-art public address system, individual monitors displaying meeting agendas, three large television screens for live discussions, modern executive chairs, and improved lighting to foster a serious and professional environment.
Governor Abiodun highlighted that the project is part of a broader urban regeneration initiative, which also involves the facelift of key landmarks such as the Ibara GRA. These efforts are aligned with Ogun’s Urban Renewal Programme and are aimed at promoting good governance and creating a sustainable environment for long-term development.
He emphasized progress across various sectors, including infrastructure, security, health, education, and housing—core pillars of his administration’s ISEYA mantra—and noted that the new chambers will serve as a conducive space for strategic decision-making for the benefit of residents.
The governor praised members of the State Executive Council for their contributions, acknowledging that their ideas and dedication have been vital to the state’s achievements.
He also paid tribute to Chief Olusegun Osoba, describing him as a distinguished politician and a founding father whose efforts have helped develop rural communities and promote grassroots growth. Abiodun noted that his administration continues to benefit from Osoba’s extensive experience.
In his remarks, Chief Osoba lauded the ongoing transformation across Ogun State. He expressed pride in the new appearance of Ibara GRA, which was once considered a slum but has now become a source of pride for the state and Egbaland. He also commended the governor for delivering a world-class Executive Council Chambers, comparable to the best globally.
This unveiling adds to the list of urban renewal milestones achieved under Abiodun’s leadership. Previously, the administration transformed the MKO Abiola Stadium into a top-tier sports arena that hosted the National Sports Festival and international events. The Cultural Centre has also undergone significant renovation.
Governor Abiodun reiterated his commitment to rebranding Ogun State through sustained urban renewal initiatives, aiming to develop a modern, progressive, and forward-looking state.
