Phyna Clarifies BBNaija Prize Receipt, Blames Video Editing for Misinterpretation
Reality TV star Josephine Ijioma Otabor, widely known as Phyna, has denied claims that she has not received her N100 million grand prize for winning Big Brother Naija in 2022.
In 2023, Phyna publicly called out the show’s organizers, alleging she had yet to receive all the prizes she earned from the competition. Following various clarifications from her team and the organizers, the issue seemed to have been settled, with fans believing the matter was resolved.
However, a recent trending video has reignited the controversy, in which Phyna appeared to say she had not yet received her prize money.
Addressing the clip during a live session on Twitch, Phyna explained that the video was edited with malicious intent. She clarified that in the full version, she only mentioned that those mocking her for turning to streaming despite winning N100 million years ago never supported her during her fight to have her prize money released.
“They keep editing my videos. I never said I haven’t received the N100 million. I was only responding to people asking if the money had finished,” she said.
Phyna expressed concern that the deceptive editing nearly led to a legal dispute with the show’s organizers, who were upset by her alleged statement. She urged people to watch the full video on Twitch for the complete context.
She also called out bloggers and content creators for cutting her videos to distort her words, warning that she would take legal action if she faced any issues due to such edits.
