In a heartfelt and urgent appeal, the Sowunmi Losi Itunla family has called upon the traditional rulers and local government authorities of Sagamu to uphold justice and fairness concerning their land rights. The family has expressed deep concern over recent developments that threaten to deprive them of their ancestral land, they reconciled and they are also appealing for continued support from the community, traditional leadership, and government officials to ensure that justice prevails.
During a well-attended press briefing held at their family compound, representatives of the Sowunmi Losi Itunla family conveyed their gratitude towards prominent traditional leaders and local government officials who have shown concern and intervened in the matter.
They specifically commended the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Torungbuwa II, for his wise counsel and intervention. They also appreciated the Elepe of Epe, Oba Adewale Osiberu, and Sagamu Local Government Chairman, Ogbeni Jubril Afolabi Odulate, for their efforts in mediating and seeking solutions to the land dispute.
The family expressed their sincere hope that these influential leaders will continue to support their quest for justice and help facilitate the rightful return of their land.
The family’s spokesperson, Alhaji Honourable Muraimo Hazzan, elaborated on the historical background of the land, stating that it was originally acquired during the tenure of former Ogun State Governor, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel. He emphasized that the land has been in their family’s possession for decades and holds significant cultural and ancestral value.
Hazzan further disclosed that recent actions by authorities to take over the land threaten the family’s heritage and economic livelihood, prompting their urgent appeal for intervention.
The family also reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful resolution and pledged their support for any fair and just decision regarding the land. They expressed confidence that the authorities and traditional rulers will handle the matter with integrity and fairness, ensuring that their ancestral rights are protected.
The family concluded by appealing to the government and relevant stakeholders to expedite the review process and restore their land, which they consider vital for their continued existence and development.
