THE COLLECTIVES 2026 FREE HEALTH WEEK OUTREACH KICKS OFF IN SAGAMU

The Collectives, in partnership with the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, on Tuesday launched its 2026 Free Health Week Outreach, reaffirming the Club’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and improving the well-being of residents in Sagamu and its surrounding communities.
The week-long community health initiative was officially unveiled at The Collectives Club House, 15 Paddy Arikawe Avenue, GRA, Sagamu, drawing government officials, healthcare professionals, members of The Collectives, community leaders and beneficiaries.
The opening ceremony began with a prayer led by one of the community beneficiaries, after which the Club’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Kofo Ayodele, introduced the dignitaries and members of The Collectives in attendance.
In his welcome address, the President of The Collectives, Alhaji Yahya Adetayo Rabiu, thanked everyone who contributed to the planning and successful commencement of the programme, underscoring the importance of collective action in bringing essential healthcare services closer to the people.
Goodwill messages followed from Otunba Tunji Lawal-Solarin and the Chief Medical Director of OOUTH, Dr Oluwabunmi Fatungase, who commended the partnership between The Collectives and the hospital’s medical team in delivering much-needed health services to the community. The Asiwaju of Remo Kingdom, Dr S. K. Onofowokan, also delivered a goodwill message in support of the initiative.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, commended The Collectives for the initiative and highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community healthcare infrastructure under the administration of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, in her address, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to, and continued investment in, improving healthcare delivery across Ogun State. She subsequently declared the 2026 Free Health Week Outreach officially open.
Following the opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor, accompanied by the Commissioner for Health and other dignitaries, toured the various screening and service points to observe the delivery of healthcare services to beneficiaries.
Speaking in an interview, the Secretary of The Collectives, Mr. Wole Awe, said the outreach would be of huge benefit to the community, noting that many residents tend to avoid routine medical check-ups until they are prompted to do so. He explained that by bringing free screening services directly to the people, the Club expects those who would otherwise stay away to turn out, and in turn encourage others within their households and neighbourhoods to attend as well. He added that the initiative reflects the belief that health is wealth, and that investing in preventive care today saves lives and reduces the burden of illness in the community in the long run.
The Chairman of the Health Week Committee, Barr. Wale Ajetunmobi, Esq., delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of The Collectives, expressing appreciation to the government officials, the OOUTH medical team, invited guests, club members, volunteers and community members whose support made the opening successful.
Day 1 Health Services
Beneficiaries had access to a range of free health services, including blood pressure checks, blood tests and Vitamin C distribution, alongside health education and counselling.
The successful opening day marked the start of four days of health interventions aimed at raising awareness, encouraging preventive healthcare practices and improving access to essential health services within the community.
The Collectives 2026 Free Health Week Outreach continues through Friday, August 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily at The Collectives Club House, 15 Paddy Arikawe Avenue, GRA, Sagamu.
