Ikenne Community Demands Probe Into Man’s Death During Police Arrest

The Ikenne community in Ogun State has called for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Demola Agboola following a police intervention in a dispute involving two young men.

The demand was made by the Ikenne Development Association UK Chapter and the Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Committee Stakeholders, who said Agboola was not one of the original parties involved in the dispute but had intervened to mediate between them.

The call follows an earlier report by PUNCH Metro concerning Agboola’s death during the police intervention. The community has since raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the incident and called for an independent probe to establish what happened.

The Ogun State Police Command had earlier confirmed that it was investigating the case. The command’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Oluborode, said a thorough investigation was ongoing to ascertain the facts of the matter.

The community is asking authorities to conduct a transparent and credible investigation and establish the circumstances that led to Agboola’s death.

No conclusion has been reached on the cause of death or responsibility for the incident, pending the outcome of the investigation.
