Cardiff’s Principality Stadium has emerged as a leading option to host the highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, as negotiations over the venue continue.
The Welsh stadium is being considered as an alternative to Wembley Stadium and a possible United States venue amid disagreements over where the long-awaited British heavyweight clash should take place. Recent reports indicate that Cardiff could provide the conditions needed for the event, including the possibility of a late-night start designed to accommodate international broadcast audiences.
The Principality Stadium’s retractable roof and previous experience hosting major boxing events are also seen as advantages. However, its existing event curfew would reportedly need to be adjusted if organisers proceed with a start time around 2 a.m. local time.
While Fury’s manager has expressed confidence that the fight will happen, the venue and other arrangements have not been formally finalised. The latest reports therefore indicate that Cardiff is a serious and increasingly prominent option, rather than a confirmed venue.
