LGAN Seeks National Hospital Partnership for 2026 All Africa Golf Championship
The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has sought medical support from the National Hospital Abuja ahead of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) and the Nigeria Ladies Open Championship scheduled to take place in the Federal Capital Territory.
LGAN President and Chairperson of the AACT 2026 Local Organising Committee, Lami Ahmed, made the request during a courtesy visit to the hospital, seeking its involvement as a principal medical partner for the two competitions.
The association requested medical arrangements including an equipped ambulance, qualified medical personnel, emergency supplies and established evacuation and referral procedures throughout the tournaments. It also sought the hospital’s support for the competitions’ medical and safety committee.
The 2026 AACT is scheduled for November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, with about 30 African countries expected to participate. The Nigeria Ladies Open Championship will follow, with tournament activities scheduled from November 7 to 10.
Management of the National Hospital Abuja welcomed the proposal and indicated that the request would be reviewed, with the hospital expected to work with the organisers on appropriate emergency-response arrangements. This means the proposed medical partnership had not yet been formally confirmed at the time of the reports.
The move is part of preparations for the back-to-back international golf events, as organisers work to establish medical and safety arrangements ahead of the November championships.
