SUBEB Chairman Donates Educational Materials to Schools in Ilisan.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, has donated educational materials to his alma mater, Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Ilisan Remo, and other public schools in Ikenne Local Government Area.

The donation was made to support pupils and promote access to quality basic education. During visits to the beneficiary schools, Ifede presented supplies intended for learners in need. Each school received 30 sets of uniforms, 22 packs of pencils, 30 pairs of sandals and 12 packs of exercise books, as well as cleaning materials and biros.

Speaking at Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Ifede said the initiative reflected his commitment to SUBEB’s mission of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to attend school and develop essential skills, including reading, writing and communication.

He said the materials were available to any learner who needed them, rather than being reserved for particular pupils. “I don’t want to hear that a learner does not have a biro or pencil,” he said.

Ifede encouraged teachers to strengthen enrolment efforts by reaching out to communities and identifying children who are not attending school. He urged them to encourage those children to enrol in public schools and stressed that no teacher should demand money from parents before admitting a child. Access to basic education, he said, should not be limited by financial circumstances.

The SUBEB chairman thanked teachers and headteachers for their cooperation and commitment to the Board’s goals. He also called on individuals, political leaders and other stakeholders to support basic education in their communities.

Ikenne Local Government Education Secretary, Hon. Olusesan Odumusi, praised Ifede’s commitment to children and education, describing him as a leader with a genuine interest in improving pupils’ welfare and learning experiences.

Ward 9 Councillor Hon. Adekunle Oduwale and the council’s Supervisor for Education, Hon. Jamiu Sonuga, also commended the donation. They said the supplies would benefit pupils and recognised Ifede’s efforts to make a positive difference in the community.

Wesley Nursery and Primary School Headteacher, Mrs. Ifetayo Komolafe, thanked Ifede for remembering his former school and assured him that the materials would be distributed fairly to deserving learners.

Pupils Pelumi Aberuagba of Wesley Nursery and Primary School and AbdulAzeem Bello of St. Barnabas Primary School expressed their gratitude and wished the chairman continued strength and wisdom.

Other schools visited included African Church Primary School, Ansar-Ud-Deen School and FOMWAN Nursery and Primary School, all in Ilisan Remo.
