Ogun Surveyors tasked to be ethical and professional
Surveyors in Ogun State have been warned to shun sharp practices that could drag the profession into disrepute.
An expert in Management Accounting, Dr Gbenga Adeoye, tasked the professional surveyors with the need for integrity and eschewing self-interest.
At the maiden edition of the Kunle Olubode Lecture Series and interactive sessions, Adeoye charged the surveyors, saying, “we need to see how we can eliminate self-interest, as one of the things that compete with integrity.”
In the lecture titled, “Integrity in Property Transactions: The Missing Link Between The Old and New Professionals,” Adeoye called for a reconnection between young professionals and veterans.
Reading the riot act to those engaging in sharp practices, the Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors, Ogun State, Wale Ojo, maintained that any professional surveyor who engages in any unethical conduct may have his license revoked.
Ojo maintained that the institution had set up a committee to sanitize the profession and rid it of erring members involved in sharp practices, saying there would be appropriate sanctions for anyone found wanting.
He noted that, with the evolution of new cities occasioned by the growing population, the skills of estate surveyors and valuers are indispensable.
