Kidnappers of the Edo train incident demands massive ransom

The kidnappers from the Igueben incident that took place on Saturday in Edo state has contacted some relatives demanding the sum of N20 million per victim.

An indigene of the community said a security personnel informed him about the latest development but the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said he would work on the information to confirm whether it is true.

Mr. Benson Odia the Executive Director, Esan Youth for Good Governance and Social justice said the demand was absurd, calling out the authorities to speed up effort in rescuing the captives.

Mr. Benson said, “I can tell you that the kidnappers have demanded N20 million, totaling N620 million. This is absurd, and I don’t know where poor people will be able to raise that amount of money.”
