Anthony Joshua Returns to Ben Davison’s Gym as Tyson Fury Fight Hangs in Balance

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has resumed training at Ben Davison’s Essex gym as negotiations for a proposed showdown with Tyson Fury remain unresolved.
Joshua, 36, previously worked with Davison before their partnership ended following his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024. He later trained in Spain with members of Oleksandr Usyk’s team and went on to defeat Jake Paul in December 2025 before stopping Kristian Prenga in July 2026.
The return to Davison’s gym is understood to be a short-term arrangement aimed at keeping Joshua in shape while his next fight is determined. There is no indication that he has permanently reappointed Davison as his trainer.
Meanwhile, the proposed Joshua-Fury bout, targeted for November 20, remains in doubt because of a dispute over the venue. Joshua’s contract reportedly requires the fight to take place in the United Kingdom, while organisers have favoured a potential event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Fury has since publicly claimed the fight is off and called for another bout with Usyk. However, reports indicate that efforts surrounding the Joshua-Fury contest remain a developing situation.
