Leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi, converged at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the official unveiling of a new opposition coalition.

Other prominent politicians present included former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Dino Melaye, former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung, PDP stalwart and publisher Dele Momodu, Labour Party Senators Gabriel Suswam and Ireti Kingibe, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha.

Retired Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was also in attendance.

The coalition, drawing membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and other political interests, is aligning under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to form a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group has officially adopted the ADC as its political platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls.

Former Senate President David Mark, who recently left the PDP, is expected to lead the press briefing as the newly appointed interim national chairman of the ADC. Also named in the coalition’s interim leadership is former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who will serve as interim national secretary.
