Babcock University Student Missing, Mother Raises Alarm
A distraught mother, Fijabi Omotayo, is desperately seeking information about her son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, who has been missing since Sunday evening, April 27, 2025.
Omotayo, in a tearful Facebook live video, recounted dropping off her son at the university on Sunday and her inability to reach him or ascertain his whereabouts since then. She has appealed to the public and security agencies for assistance in locating him, stating that her direct visit to the school yielded no concrete information.
“I dropped him off myself on Sunday evening, but for the past three days, I have not been able to sleep,” she said. “I went to the school, and they told me that students sometimes hide within the premises. Babcock University should please help find my son.”
In a previous post, Omotayo expressed frustration with the university, alleging they were withholding information, particularly concerning two students identified as Lampard and Tobi, whom she claimed were the last individuals to see her son. “Babcock University, Ilisan, could you please inform me about the whereabouts of my son, Oladipupo Siwajuola? My family and I should not suffer because of your lack of accountability.”
Following the online outcry, Emmanuel Ojo, Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, confirmed he had contacted the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who subsequently reached out to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
According to Ojo, the Vice-Chancellor stated he was unaware of the incident until it was reported and confirmed receiving the student’s details. He assured that the matter would be investigated and that security agencies were already involved, expressing optimism for a swift resolution.
A source within the university confirmed that the institution’s security department is actively investigating the case and has invited the individuals mentioned by the mother for questioning.
The Director of Marketing and Communications for the university, Dr Joshua Suleiman, also confirmed the incident, stating, “The school is aware of the case, it is being handled by our security department, it is under investigation.”
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, confirmed the report was filed with the police on Saturday. “We are already investigating the matter and have been trying to get in touch with the university. We are on it,” Ogunlowo said.
