Celebration in Sagamu as Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji Joins PDP, Declares House of Assembly Ambition

At the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat located along Hospital Road, Ori Yarin in Sagamu, Ogun State, Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji, popularly known as Aare, was formally received into the party as he declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The event began with the arrival of Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji at the party secretariat, where he was warmly welcomed by party members amid lively performances from a live band. The atmosphere was celebratory as supporters gathered to witness his official declaration.
The programme was anchored by the officiating Master of Ceremonies, Honorable Muirana Hassan, who coordinated proceedings throughout the event. Constituency leaders were invited to address the gathering, where they greeted party members and guests. In their remarks, they spoke on the process of admitting new members into the party, emphasizing the importance of proper screening and the emergence of credible candidates.
The PDP Party Chairman, Dauda Adeyemi, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the significance of Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji’s presence, noting that his declaration further strengthens the party. He introduced him as a member of Constituency 2, Ward 13, and commended his decision to seek the House of Assembly seat under the PDP platform.
He also acknowledged other aspirants from various constituencies and urged party youths to mobilize and work towards elevating the party’s status, particularly in preparation for future rallies to demonstrate that the PDP remains active and strong.
In his address, Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji greeted party leaders, including Honorable Ladi Adebutu. He spoke candidly about the discouraging remarks he had received from outsiders questioning his decision to join the PDP, particularly the recurring question, “Why PDP?” Despite this, he reaffirmed his commitment to the party, introducing himself formally and explaining the motivations behind his decision.
He expressed gratitude to party leaders, women leaders, and other stakeholders for the warm reception he received. Olatunji also revealed that his parents were devoted PDP members, stating that he has always identified with the party and “knows no other way except PDP.”
Declaring his intention to contest for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly, he assured members of his unwavering loyalty and dedication to the party. He emphasized that regardless of the outcome of the election, he remains a committed PDP member. To demonstrate his solidarity, he joined party members on the dance floor, symbolizing unity and enthusiasm for the party’s future.
As part of his support for the party structure, Olatunji donated a total sum of ₦300,000 to the ward, ₦100,000 to party leaders, and also distributed 30 cartons of noodles to members and leaders present at the event.
In his closing remarks, Party Chairman Dauda Adeyemi urged members to begin preparations for the 2027 general elections. He also formally introduced new members to the party, expressing optimism that Omooba Yomi Wasiu Olatunji’s entry signifies positive progress, describing it as a “good sign” for the PDP.
The event concluded on a high note with music and dancing, as members celebrated the new entrant and renewed their commitment to the party’s growth and success.
