Federal Government Declares May 1st, 2025, a Public Holiday for Workers’ Day Celebration
The Federal Government has announced Thursday, May 1st, 2025, as a public holiday in celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the importance of peace as a catalyst for industrialization and economic progress. He praised workers for their dedication and sacrifices, acknowledging that their efforts have significantly contributed to Nigeria’s national greatness and the country’s respected standing in the international community.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the dignity inherent in labor, stating, “There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do are vital to nation-building.” He called on workers to embrace innovation and productivity to elevate their crafts, which in turn will enhance governance and maximize the benefits derived from Nigeria’s resources.
Furthermore, the Minister assured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property for all citizens and foreigners within the country.
Wishing all workers a happy Workers’ Day celebration, he also urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, affirming that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to realizing the Renewed Hope Agenda and fostering national progress.
