FIBIGBUWA FAMILY BEGINS PREPARATION FOR IPERU KINGSHIP AS IKENNE LG CALLS FOR UNITY

Fibigbuwa Family Begins Preparations for Iperu Kingship as Ikenne LG Calls for Unity

The Ikenne Local Government has called on members of the Fibigbuwa Royal Family of Iperu to maintain unity and mutual understanding as preparations commence towards the emergence and installation of the next traditional ruler of Iperu.

The call was made during a meeting held at the Ikenne Local Government Secretariat, Ikenne, Ogun State, on 17th September, 2026. This meeting was ttended by government officials, traditional leaders, representatives of the Iperu Development Association, and members of the Fibigbuwa family.

Among the dignitaries present at the meeting were the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, *Hon. Jamiu Ashimi* ; Vice Chairman, *Hon. Efuwape Muhammed* ; Local Government Secretary, *Mr. Ifede Ifetayo* ; the Oluwo of Iperu, *High Chief Ifasola Opeodu* ; President of the Iperu Development Association, *Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo* ; former Ikenne Local Government Chairman, *Hon. Segun Ogunleye* ; Olori Ebi of Fibigbuwa, *Prince Olorunju Sonaike* ; *Oba Somade, Akufon of Idarika* ; *Omoba Awotesu* ; *Omoba Abiodun Adewale Oyefule* ; *Chief Mukaila Raheem*, Olotu Iperu Council of Omobas, *Omoba Olusegun Ladega*, Olori Ewu Fibigbuwa, *Omoba Kehinde Raji Osofala*, Chairman Committee for new Kabiesi, *Omoba Kola Temi Osho*, *Omoba Sulaimon Sowemimo*, *Musibau Oyebanjo sone*, The Asipa Fibigbuwa, *Omoba Suraju Oyekan*, as well as other government officials and members of the Fibigbuwa family.

The meeting commenced with an opening prayer, after which the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government delivered his welcome address.

In his address, *Hon. Jamiu Ashimi* welcomed the government officials, traditional leaders and members of the Fibigbuwa family. He expressed appreciation to God for the progress made so far and acknowledged the intervention of the Ogun State Governor, *Prince Dapo Abiodun* , in resolving issues surrounding the kingship nomination process.

The Chairman urged members of the Fibigbuwa family to appreciate the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for what he described as his diplomatic approach to the kingship matter and for the direction given concerning the next royal family to produce the next Alaperu of Iperu.

He further disclosed that an official letter concerning the commencement of preparations had been received by the Local Government from the Governor through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

According to him, the development requires cooperation between the government and the royal family, stressing that the Fibigbuwa family must remain united and work within the stipulated timeframe for the necessary preparations.

Hon. Ashimi also proposed that a date be agreed upon for government officials to visit the family as observers during the preparation process. He appealed to members of the family to resolve any internal disagreements that could hinder the process.

The Head of Service of Ikenne Local Government, *Mr. Wole Abraham Adeosun* , supported the position of the LG chairman.

He reiterated that an official letter had been received from the Ogun State Government through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs concerning the next stage of the process.

He urged the members of the Fibigbuwa family to work together and cooperate with the government to ensure that the necessary preparations are completed within the required timeframe.

He also stated that the official communication would be made available and subsequently announced publicly in relation to the family designated for the next kingship.

The Oluwo of Iperu, *High Chief Ifasola Opeodu* , expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government and other government officials for their efforts.

He gave assurances that the Fubigbuwa family would cooperate with the government and comply with the necessary directives concerning the process.

Speaking on behalf of the family, *Omoba Abiodun Adewale Oyefule* appreciated the Ogun State Governor and the government officials for their efforts.

He assured the gathering that the Fibigbuwa family would cooperate with the government and disclosed that the family would provide a date for its preparations before the conclusion of the meeting.

Also speaking, former Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Segun Ogunleye, appreciated God, the Ogun State Governor, the current Local Government Chairman and other government officials.

He advised members of the Fibigbuwa family to maintain mutual understanding and unity, stressing the importance of cooperation among family members in ensuring a smooth kingship process.

The President of the Iperu Development Association, *Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo* , also called for cooperation and unity within the Fibigbuwa family.

He urged the family to comply with the directives of the government and work together throughout the process, emphasizing that unity would be essential to achieving a smooth transition.

He further stressed the importance of having a single, united process towards the emergence of the next king.

In his closing remarks, the *Olori Ebi of Fibigbuwa, Prince Olorunju Sonaike* , expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, the Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, government officials, members of the Fibigbuwa family and all Iperu representatives who attended the meeting.

Prince Sonaike stated that there was no misunderstanding within the Fibigbuwa family and reaffirmed the family’s commitment to working together.

The meeting concluded with a closing prayer, bringing together government representatives, traditional authorities and members of the Fibigbuwa family in preparation for the next stage of the Iperu kingship process.
