Fibigbuwa Ruling House Visits Iperu Kingmakers as Alaperu Succession Process Continues
Members of the Fibigbuwa Ruling House of Iperu on Thursday visited the traditional kingmakers as activities continue towards the emergence and eventual installation of a new Alaperu of Iperu.
According to a statement issued by the ruling house, the delegation was received by the kingmakers, who offered prayers, guidance and words of advice to members of the family as they proceed with the traditional process.
The statement also said a Staff of Office was presented during the visit, describing the gesture as symbolic of the succession process involving the Fibigbuwa Ruling House and the Odoru Ruling House.
However, the specific significance of the Staff of Office presentation could not be independently confirmed from an official statement by the Ikenne Local Government or the traditional institution.
The development comes as the Iperu community continues preparations for the emergence of a new Alaperu following the death of the former monarch, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo (Odoru V), in February 2025. Recent activities involving the Ikenne Local Government and the Fibigbuwa family have confirmed that the succession process is ongoing.
The latest visit therefore represents another development in the traditional process, while the emergence and installation of the next Alaperu remain subject to the completion of the prescribed procedures by the relevant authorities and traditional institutions.
