Friends of Ronzls Foundation Celebrates 2026 World Book Day with Primary School Learners
The Friends of Ronzls Foundation commemorated the World Book Day 2026 with a special literacy programme for primary school pupils on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School Hall. The event was organised to promote a strong reading culture among young learners and was themed “Read for Pleasure.”
The world book day is celebrated by Friends of Ronzls Foundation to end the years Reading Sensitization Programme where 77 primary schools were visited and children at schools read with.
The programme commenced with the rendition of the National Anthem, after which invited schools were formally recognised. The opening address was delivered by the Founder of the Foundation, Chief Mrs Ola Sulaimon, popularly known as the Iya-Ewe of Idado, who welcomed the pupils, teachers, and distinguished guests to the literacy-focused celebration.
One of the highlights of the event was the interactive reading session, where pupils enthusiastically took turns reading from selected books. Following the reading exercise, the host engaged the students by asking questions related to the texts, allowing them to demonstrate their comprehension and critical thinking skills.
The programme also featured fun literacy games and educational activities designed to make reading enjoyable. Pupils participated in a spelling game using cardboard letters where they were divided into two groups and tasked with arranging the letters correctly to form words. The activity created excitement among the learners while helping them improve their spelling abilities.
Another engaging segment was a pronunciation and spelling challenge, during which words were pronounced by the host and pupils competed to spell them correctly. The games encouraged teamwork, confidence, and active participation among the students.
A key part of the programme was the teaching session on the theme “Reading for Pleasure.” During the session, pupils were reminded that reading should not be seen as punishment but as a fun and enriching activity. The hosts explained that reading helps students gain new knowledge, expand their vocabulary, and improve their speaking abilities. The pupils were therefore encouraged to cultivate the habit of reading their books daily.
In her address, the founder Chief Mrs Ola Sulaimon appreciated the pupils and the head teachers for bringing their students to participate in the programme. She also expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, Osiderumu I, the Radanua of Idado Kingdom and the Royal Father of the Friends of Ronzls Foundation, for honouring the programme with his presence and continued support for the foundation’s activities. She further thanked the teachers and pupils for their enthusiasm and active participation.
Dignitaries present at the event included Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, Osiderumu I, the Radanua of Idado Kingdom and Royal Father of the Foundation, Mrs Sarah Gbadamosi, the grandmother of the foundation, the founder Chief Mrs Oladapo Sulaimon, as well as head teachers and teachers from the invited schools who accompanied their pupils to the programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the founder, who appreciated everyone for their support and participation. The programme ended with the rendition of the Ogun State Anthem, marking the close of a successful celebration promoting the joy and importance of reading among young learners.
