INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF CHIEF (MRS.) OLURANTI OWOLABI ALAYO AS IYA IJO HOLDS IN SAGAMU
The installation ceremony of Chief (Mrs.) Oluranti Owolabi Alayo as the Iya Ijo of Rev. Robert Memorial Anglican Church, Sagamu, Ogun State, was held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, amidst joy, thanksgiving, and celebration.
The event commenced with the processional hymn, followed by the reading of scriptures as members of the church, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to witness the special occasion.
The service was officiated by the Archbishop and Diocesan Bishop of Remo, Most Rev. Dr. M. Olusina Fape, who presided over the installation rites.
During the ceremony, the elected Iya Ijo was presented before the Bishop and took an oath pledging to remain faithful to the church, dedicate her life to God’s work, and refrain from joining any cult or secret society.
Following the oath-taking session, Chief (Mrs.) Oluranti Owolabi Alayo was anointed with oil and formally presented with the girdle, Bible, and certificate as symbols of her office. The Bishop thereafter offered prayers and blessings upon her before officially presenting her to the congregation as the new Iya Ijo of the church.
Delivering his sermon, the Archbishop charged the newly installed Iya Ijo to remain close to the church and its members while also serving as a good example to the younger generation. He emphasized the importance of humility, dedication, and commitment in the service of God and humanity.
After the installation service, a thanksgiving session followed as family members, friends, church members, and well-wishers joined the celebrant in joyful thanksgiving to God.
Speaking during an interview, the Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile, described the celebrant as a role model and an amazing woman whose lifestyle and dedication have made her worthy of both her chieftaincy title and her new spiritual office as Iya Ijo.
The celebration later continued at the residence of the celebrant, where guests were entertained in a lively atmosphere filled with music, goodwill, and merriment.
