IPAC Urges INEC, Security Agencies to Ensure Credible Osun Governorship Election

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a free, fair, transparent and credible governorship election in Osun State on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

IPAC National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Dantalle, made the call on Monday in Abuja after the council’s General Assembly meeting on the political situation in Osun State.

Dantalle expressed concern over rising political tension ahead of the election and urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to avoid violence, intimidation, inflammatory rhetoric and other actions capable of threatening peace in the state.

He also charged INEC to maintain professionalism, impartiality and transparency throughout the electoral process, while urging security agencies to protect voters, candidates, electoral officials and election materials without discrimination.

IPAC further warned against vote-buying and the use of government institutions or security agencies to manipulate the electoral process, stressing that the outcome of the election must reflect the will of the people.

The council urged all stakeholders to embrace peaceful competition and seek redress through lawful channels, as Osun prepares for the August 15 governorship poll.
