Kemi Olunloyo Declares Separation from Family Following Father’s Death
Controversial media figure Kemi Olunloyo has chosen to sever ties with her family following the death of her father, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, who was a former governor of Oyo State. The esteemed mathematician and politician passed away on April 6 at the age of 89.
In a series of posts and videos on her Facebook and TikTok accounts, Kemi publicly declared her disassociation from the Olunloyo family, stating she would not accept condolences regarding her father’s passing.
“I am uploading video statements on my father’s death on TikTok. I am not part of the Olunloyo family anymore and I shared in 2024 that I would never return to Nigeria, even if my parents died,” she expressed. Kemi further asserted, “I am not accepting anyone’s condolences because I am not condoling with anybody.”
While she noted that she had forgiven her father, Kemi described him as “two different people,” alleging a stark contrast between his public persona and private behavior at home. “You don’t know what goes on in my family, and I don’t know what goes on in yours… My father destroyed our family unit; he tortured us emotionally and physically. He marketed me as his favorite daughter to the world, but that was far from reality,” she claimed.
Kemi also alleged that her father was involved in occult practices until later in life when he chose to embrace Christianity. “My father was heavily involved in ‘juju’ and occult practices; it wasn’t until his 80th birthday that he sought to become born again after I called him out on it,” she said.
She pointed to her father’s marriage to Aderonke Omololu Olunloyo, whom he met during his 1983 gubernatorial campaign, as a source of division within the family. This union, she explained, deeply affected her mother, as it marked a shift in her father’s previously intellectual and stable character.
“My mother married an accomplished man, and he transformed into a polygamist. The impact of this on our family was significant,” Kemi concluded.
As of now, there has been no public response from the Olunloyo family or representatives of the late governor regarding Kemi’s allegations.
