Lionel Messi scored his 100th goal for Inter Miami and provided an assist as the club defeated Cruz Azul 2–0 on Wednesday to win the 2026 Campeones Cup.

Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a header from a Luis Suárez cross, reaching the milestone in his 115th appearance for the club. Casemiro doubled the advantage in the 81st minute, heading home a corner delivered by Messi.

The victory secured Inter Miami’s first Campeones Cup title and added another trophy to the club’s recent honours, following the Leagues Cup in 2023, Supporters’ Shield in 2024 and MLS Cup in 2025.

The win also came two months after Messi and Argentina lost the 2026 FIFA World Cup final 1–0 to Spain after extra time.

After the match, Casemiro praised Messi, saying the team should enjoy playing alongside the Argentine star because they do not know how long they will have the opportunity.
