Nigeria Intensify Preparations for 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Championship
Nigeria’s senior men’s volleyball team have intensified preparations for the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Tunis, Tunisia, from September 13 to 27.
Nigeria secured qualification for the continental tournament after emerging as champions of the Zone 3 qualifying competition. The team is among 16 nations expected to compete for the African title.
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation has invited 22 players to camp ahead of the championship, with four foreign-based players and 18 others drawn from the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League. Abdulquadri Jaiyeola is included in the squad and previously captained Nigeria during the qualification campaign.
The championship was initially scheduled to be held in the Democratic Republic of Congo before being moved to Tunisia. With the competition now only days away, Nigeria will be aiming to make a strong showing against the continent’s leading volleyball nations.
