The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is set to introduce the ‘School Protection Squad’ in Ogun State, aimed at bolstering school safety and security.

This initiative is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to ensure a secure learning environment for students across the state.

The School Protection Squad will be officially launched during a two-day event, themed “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders.” Scheduled to take place from Tuesday to Wednesday, the event will bring together stakeholders, including sister security agencies, government bodies, traditional rulers, and private sector representatives.

According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to gain insights into the measures being implemented to secure schools in Ogun State.

These measures include rapid response deployment, vehicular patrols, and orientation sessions on safer security practices for students, principals, and school partners.

The School Protection Squad is designed to ensure every school in Ogun State is well-protected. The initiative will also provide an opportunity for guests to discuss, share information, and propose new strategies to enhance school security.

The public is invited to follow the event proceedings live on the official police social media platforms from 10:00 am on November 26th and 27th, 2024.
