Nigerian Engineer Shehu Balami Breaks Ground with Solid-Fuel Rocket Invention

 

Shehu Saleh Balami, a Nigerian engineer, has achieved a groundbreaking feat by designing and inventing the world’s first solid-fuel rocket. Balami’s journey into rocket design began in 2000, and his remarkable achievement came to light at the age of 28 with the creation of the revolutionary solid-fuel rocket.

 

A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State, Balami’s ingenuity has propelled him to the forefront of innovation in Nigeria. His invention saw the successful launch of two solid-fuel rockets along the new Kaduna Millennium City Road in Kaduna State.

 

Balami’s trajectory towards this milestone was marked by dedication and perseverance. With the support of relatives and allies, he embarked on the project in 2008, eventually modifying his creation in 2011. The solid-fuel rocket project was carried out under the auspices of the Movement for the Propagation of Science and Technology in Nigeria.

 

Through Balami’s pioneering work, Nigeria’s capacity for innovation and technological advancement has been showcased on the global stage. His invention adds to the growing list of Nigerian inventors contributing to various fields, including wind-propelled turbines for power generation and the development of portable medical solutions like the hospitbox.an a box.
