NSIB to Release Final Report on Anthony Joshua Crash Within 60 Days

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) says its final report on the fatal road accident involving former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua is expected to be released publicly within the next 30 to 60 days.

The Director-General of the NSIB, Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., disclosed this on Friday during a virtual engagement with transport journalists.

Badeh said the bureau had completed its investigation and forwarded its findings to relevant stakeholders for their observations, in line with the procedures governing accident investigations.

Joshua was injured in the December 29, 2025 crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two of his associates. Preliminary findings released by the Federal Road Safety Corps indicated that excessive speed and unsafe overtaking contributed to the crash.

The forthcoming NSIB report is expected to provide the bureau’s final findings on the circumstances and causes of the accident and may include safety recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents.

The NSIB’s mandate is to conduct independent and objective investigations into transportation accidents and incidents, with the goal of improving safety rather than apportioning blame or liability.
