Ogun CP Urges Residents to Report Missing Relatives

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has made a heartfelt appeal to the public, urging individuals with missing relatives to approach the command with photographs. This request is aimed at potential identification by a prime suspect linked to cases of missing persons and alleged ritual killings in the state.

In a recent update on the ongoing investigation, the command paraded two principal suspects, Adebayo Olamide Azeez, 35, and Mariam Awuraji, 38, in connection with the alleged failed N200 million ritual killings involving 35-year-old Sulaimon Adijat. The suspects confessed to their involvement in approximately ten missing individuals in the state.

Alamutu shared details of a significant development in the investigation, stating, “A relative of one of the deceased on 23rd February 2024 came to the State Criminal Investigation Department after watching the press briefing on the television to identify a bag belonging to her sister, Olanrewaju Sarah Abosede who has been missing. The suspect identified the owner as among those they murdered.”

The Commissioner of Police called on the youth to refrain from engaging in negative activities and to utilize social media and related technologies positively. Alamutu assured the public that the command is diligently working to uncover the identities of other victims, emphasizing that families with missing relatives should provide photographs of the individuals to the State Criminal Department in Eleweran, Ogun State.

“The suspects have assured the police that they will recognize the victims they have killed if the photograph is seen,” he added. This plea serves as a critical step in the ongoing efforts to bring justice to the victims and their families while reinforcing the importance of community involvement in solving such heinous crimes.
