Vice President Shettima Assures Ongoing Reforms Will Secure Nigeria’s Future

Vice President Kashim Shettima has provided assurances that the current reforms initiated by the administration led by President Bola Tinubu will soon pave the way for a more promising future for Nigeria.

Shettima conveyed this optimism during the launch of the “Outsource to Nigeria Initiative” (OTNI) in Gombe, emphasizing the significance of redirecting the abundant talents and skills within the country.

The initiative, aimed at tapping into the global Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) market valued at $8.79 trillion, has been introduced as part of the ongoing efforts to bolster Nigeria’s economic prospects. Shettima praised President Tinubu as a visionary leader and astute economic strategist, highlighting the President’s grasp of Nigeria’s current situation and its position within the global landscape.

Addressing the public, Shettima called for patience regarding the economic decisions made by the administration, acknowledging that some of these decisions may pose short-term challenges. However, he reassured the nation that these decisions are strategic investments designed to strengthen the foundations of the country’s economy.

“The tough decisions we have taken may pose short-term challenges, but rest assured, they are strategic investments to fortify the foundations of our economy,” said Vice President Shettima.

Expressing confidence in the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative, Shettima predicted a positive turnaround in the country’s economic fortunes. He anticipated that OTNI would generate millions of job opportunities and propel Nigeria’s BPO and Information Technology-enabled services sector to unprecedented growth.

Highlighting the potential of the initiative, Shettima emphasized that OTNI would establish a crucial alliance between the public and private sectors, channeling talents and skills to reconstruct a more prosperous Nigeria. The Vice President also noted that outsourcing is a strategy to counteract brain drain and redirect skills towards nation-building.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe acknowledged the strategic decision to launch the initiative in the state, recognizing Gombe’s potential and achievements in fostering an environment conducive to technological innovation and economic growth.

Founder/CEO of OTNI, Amal Hassan, placed the value of the global BPO & ITES markets at $8.79 trillion in 2024, with India and the Philippines dominating around 60% of the market. Hassan outlined that Nigeria, with its vast potential, is expected to experience the fastest growth in the African BPO industry.

The OTNI initiative aims to showcase Nigeria as the preferred outsourcing destination, connecting Nigerian youths to global job opportunities and attracting investments. Through streamlined processes and the digital platform WorkNation, the initiative plans to help partners find, train, and deploy talents according to their requirements.
