Ogun Police Rescue Three Minors, Arrest Three Suspected Child Traffickers in Ibafo

 

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued three minors and arrested three women suspected of being involved in a child-stealing operation in Ibafo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.

 

The suspects were identified by the police as 36-year-old Kikelomo Jimoh, Kayode Elizabeth and 60-year-old Blessing Anochike. Their arrests followed an investigation into a reported case of child stealing in the area.

Police said information obtained during the investigation led detectives to Anochike’s residence, where the three children were found and taken to safety.

 

The rescued minors were identified as 14-year-old Christiana Olowokere, 16-year-old Olamilekan Abdurusheed and 12-year-old Adeniji Rebecca. Preliminary findings by the police indicated that Christiana was allegedly sold for ₦500,000, while Olamilekan, who had previously left his parents’ home, was later allegedly abducted.

 

The police said the circumstances surrounding Rebecca’s movement and custody have not yet been fully established and remain part of the ongoing investigation.

 

The suspects are currently in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and to determine whether other individuals were involved.

 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operation and urged members of the public to report suspicious activities involving children.
