The Ogun State government has announced plans to affiliate the Oba Sikiru Adetona College of Governance with the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
The announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun at the 90th birthday and 64th coronation anniversary of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR. The affiliation aims to provide training for high-ranking government officials, with the state’s permanent secretaries being the inaugural students.
Governor Abiodun praised Oba Adetona’s dedication to governance and education, which led to the establishment of the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, a pioneering institution in Sub-Saharan Africa. The affiliation with NIPSS is expected to further cement the college’s reputation as a center of excellence in governance and public policy.
President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the request for affiliation, paving the way for the college to begin offering programs in collaboration with NIPSS. The development is expected to enhance the capacity of government officials in Ogun State and beyond, and contribute to the development of effective and efficient governance in the country.
