Ogun State Government has called on its citizens and residents to collaborate with authorities in ensuring the successful hosting of the upcoming National Sports Festival, branded “Gateway Games 2024.”

Speaking to journalists after inspecting facilities at the MKO Abiola International Stadium and Alake Sports Centre, the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, emphasized the importance of community support. He urged residents to continue showcasing Ogun State positively, demonstrate hospitality to visitors, and fully support Team Ogun. The commissioner assured that comprehensive security arrangements would be in place to guarantee the safety of all participants and visitors.

Hon. Isiaka also highlighted that the festival’s organization involves multiple government agencies, not just the Ministry of Sports Development, underscoring the collaborative effort to deliver what he described as the best Sports Festival ever. He noted that preparations are at an advanced stage.

Furthermore, the commissioner reassured the public that the state government is committed to maintaining the facilities beyond the festival. He emphasized that these structures are not solely for the event but are intended for long-term use for the benefit of Ogun State’s people.

“The preparations are progressing smoothly, and we are now finalizing all details. You can see the level of readiness across all venues. It’s important that these facilities are not left to become neglected after the festival. Our goal is to establish a robust and sustainable sports system in Ogun State,” he stated.
