Ogun State Police Command Arrests Suspect for Raping Mentally Unstable Housewife
In the Owode community, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, a mentally unstable married woman was allegedly raped by a man named Tahiru Hamidu.
The suspect, who was arrested on September 12, 2024, by the men of the Owode Egba Division, is accused of exploiting the survivor’s condition to engage in non-consensual sexual intercourse on multiple occasions.
According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the suspect threatened to murder the survivor’s brother-in-law, Shofolahan, if he did not permit him to continue committing the heinous crime. The suspect allegedly lured the survivor to a cassava plantation, where he repeatedly raped her before releasing her.
Odutola stated that the investigation into the crime is ongoing, emphasizing that the survivor is mentally incapacitated and the suspect took advantage of her vulnerability. The brother-in-law reported the case, revealing the suspect’s threats to kill him if he intervened.
