The ancient traditions and rich cultural heritage of Remoland came alive on Thursday, October 22, 2026, as Omoba Adewunmi Adedeji Ogunsanya, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was formally installed as the Odofin of Offin, Sagamu, and Odofin of Remoland.

The colourful coronation and installation ceremony was held at the palace of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, in Sagamu, and was steeped in royal rites, traditional chants and pomp befitting the prestigious title.

The palace courtyard was filled to capacity as prominent political figures, captains of industry, legal luminaries, traditional rulers and sons and daughters of Remo at home and in the diaspora thronged the venue to witness the historic installation.

Among the dignitaries present were the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON; the host, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II; the Ogun State governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), among other distinguished guests.

The presence of the Governor and other political leaders underscored the importance of traditional institutions as critical partners in governance and community development.

The installation rites were performed under the authority of the Akarigbo, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, who formally conferred the Odofin title on Omoba Ogunsanya. The ceremony was witnessed by other royal fathers across Remoland and Ogun State, highlighting the unity of the traditional council.

In Remo traditional structure, the Odofin is one of the most senior and revered chieftaincy titles – a principal kingmaker and custodian of tradition. The elevation of Omoba Ogunsanya, a distinguished legal icon and prince of Remo lineage, was described as a perfect blend of modern excellence and traditional heritage.

Beyond the political colouration, the event was a true display of Remo culture – talking drums, traditional attires, and royal processions – reinforcing the continuing relevance of traditional institutions in preserving cultural identity and strengthening communal unity.

In his remarks after the installation, associates described Omoba Ogunsanya SAN as a worthy son whose elevation will bring further honour, wisdom and development to Offin, Sagamu and Remoland at large.

The ceremony ended with prayers for a peaceful and impactful reign, with music and entertainment, as Remoland celebrates the addition of a new custodian to its ancient traditional stool.
